Privacy policy
Last updated October 7, 2026
Mint FAQ Page is a Shopify app made by Mint Labs ("we", "us"). It shows a store's frequently asked questions on an FAQ page, in a theme block on any page and on product pages. This policy explains what the app handles, why, and when it's deleted.
The short version
- The app does not collect or store information about the store's customers: no names, emails, addresses, IP addresses, customer IDs or cookies.
- Questions are rendered by the store's theme (or Shopify's app proxy for the FAQ page). Search runs in the shopper's browser. The storefront uses no cookies, tracking or browser storage.
- On the Pro plan, the FAQ sends anonymous counts for the merchant's search report: the words typed into the FAQ search (cleaned, and dropped entirely if they look like personal data) and which question was opened. Nothing identifies the shopper.
- We never sell or share data, use it for advertising or AI training, or combine it across stores.
Information about merchants
| Information | Why | Kept |
|---|---|---|
| Store domain and a Shopify access token | To write the FAQ to the store, read the store's languages, and look up the products and collections product FAQs are shown on. | Token deleted at uninstall |
| Store name, primary domain, published languages and Shopify IDs of the store and the app installation | To write the FAQ to the right place, offer translations and show links to the FAQ page. | Until the store's data is deleted (below) |
| The merchant's FAQ: pages, categories, questions, answers, translations, product FAQ settings (product and collection IDs, names and tags) and style | To show the FAQ the way the merchant set it up. | Until the merchant deletes it or the store's data is deleted |
| Plan and subscription status | Read from Shopify to decide which features apply. Payments are handled entirely by Shopify. | Until the store's data is deleted |
The FAQ is also saved in the merchant's own store as app settings (app-data metafields), where the theme blocks read it; Shopify removes them when the app is uninstalled.
Search report (Pro)
When a store is on Pro, the FAQ on its storefront sends two kinds of anonymous events to the app, through Shopify's app proxy:
- A search: the words a shopper typed into the FAQ search and whether any question matched. Before anything is stored the text is lower-cased, accents and punctuation are removed and it is cut to 60 characters. A search is never stored if it contains an "@", a run of five or more digits (phone, order, card or postal numbers), a web address, or more than eight words.
- An opened question: which question was opened.
We store only daily totals per store (day, search words, matched or not, count; or day, question, count) for 90 days, then delete them. We do not store the shopper's IP address, customer account, cookie, session or browsing history. To stop abuse, requests are counted per visitor with a salted hash of the IP address that changes every day and is deleted within two days. On the Free plan no events are sent. The merchant can clear the report at any time.
Customer privacy requests
- Access and erasure requests (Shopify's
customers/data_requestandcustomers/redact): the app holds no customer data, so there is nothing to return or delete. We acknowledge the requests. - Store deletion (
shop/redact, sent 48 hours after a merchant uninstalls): we permanently delete everything we hold for the store, including its search report. If that request never arrives, we delete it all 30 days after uninstall anyway.
Where data is processed and how it's protected
The app runs on Cloudflare (hosting and database) and connects to Shopify's APIs. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is limited to Mint Labs staff who need it to run the service. We use no other sub-processors, analytics or trackers. See our security policy.
Your rights
Merchants can delete questions, pages and the search report in the app at any time, and uninstalling deletes everything as described above. Email us with any request and we respond within 30 days.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, notify merchants in the app.
